Meet The New Owners

Russell Ollington

Russell is a qualified boat builder by trade, having completed his apprenticeship with Riviera on the Gold Coast in 2005. During his time at Riviera, he worked across several areas including warranty, pre‑delivery, and aftermarket services, gaining valuable insights into premium boat manufacturing and customer support.

Following this, Russell joined John Crawford Marine in Brisbane, a highly regarded marine dealership where he gained strong experience in boat sales and business operations. In 2009, Russell chose to serve his country by joining the Australian Army, where he proudly completed 12.5 years of service as a helicopter technician, including multiple deployments.

After transitioning out of the Army in 2022, Russell returned to his passion for the marine industry as Sales Manager at Rising Sun Marine, managing well‑known brands such as Quintrex boats and Yamaha outboards. During this time, he also completed his qualifications as a Marine Surveyor, specializing in boat horsepower and capacity re‑ratings, a skillset that will bring valuable technical expertise to Hammerhead Suzuki Marine.

In addition, Russell has managed and grown several successful local businesses, including North QLD Shade Sails (recently sold after a successful period) and a commercial air‑conditioning cleaning company dealing with many government contracts and tenders in defence, hospitals, shopping centres and council establishments that will continue to operate under management. With strong industry connections, in‑depth technical knowledge, and a proven track record in business operations, Russell is well‑positioned to lead Hammerhead Suzuki Marine into a new phase of growth and development.

Rachel Ollington

Rachel’s professional background is in administration and management. She began her career with the Townsville City Council, later moving to Queensland Health in 2009, where she gained extensive public sector experience before stepping back in 2014 to focus on raising their family.

Seeking to expand her career, Rachel joined the Royal Australian Air Force as a Personnel Capability Specialist, where she developed strong organizational, leadership, and human‑resources skills. She has since earned her Certificate III in Business and plans to pursue further qualifications while supporting the family’s growing business interests.

Rachel brings a wealth of administrative expertise, attention to detail, and people‑management skills to Hammerhead Suzuki Marine. Her ability to balance operations, customer service, and compliance makes her an integral part of the management team.

Jake is an instrumental part of our business and plays a huge role in keeping our customers on the water. His knowledge, attention to detail, and strong work ethic make him a valued member of the team every single day.

Whether it’s servicing, repairs, or getting boats ready for their next adventure, Jake always takes pride in delivering quality workmanship and great customer service.

When he’s not in the workshop, you’ll probably find him out on the water 🎣 or out on the golf course working on his swing ⛳

Jake and his beautiful partner Cass are also about to become first-time parents, and we couldn’t be more excited for them as they begin this amazing new chapter in life. We wish them all the very best and can’t wait to welcome a future little member of the team 👶⚓

Mark

Marine Mechanic

We’re excited to officially welcome Mark to the team!

A true Townsville local, Mark was born and raised here and has proudly called Townsville home his entire life. Alongside his partner, Skye, they’ve raised their three boys while building strong connections within the local community.

Mark joins us after an outstanding career with Angus Smith Marine, where he began his apprenticeship before becoming a qualified Marine Mechanic in 2008. Over the years, he has earned a reputation as one of the region’s leading specialists in Evinrude and Johnson outboards, with extensive knowledge and hands-on experience that has helped countless local boat owners.

Whether it’s servicing, diagnostics or bringing older motors back to life, Mark’s expertise, attention to detail and genuine passion for the marine industry make him a fantastic addition to our growing team.

When he’s not in the workshop, you’ll usually find Mark outdoors, tinkering on projects, heading away camping or enjoying a day out fishing with family and friends.
